During your first appointment, we can decide together how often we will meet and how many sessions might be helpful as part of your treatment plan.
Things to think about include:
Your current needs and the goals you want to work towards
The treatment approach we will be using together
Any time or financial constraints you need to factor in
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, the Medicare Better Access Scheme offers rebates for up to 10 sessions with a psychologist each calendar year.

You’ll get the most out of therapy when you’re actively involved and working together with your psychologist. Think of it as a team effort towards the changes and goals that matter to you.
Some approaches might involve “homework” between sessions — like trying out strategies, practising new skills, or noticing patterns in your day-to-day life. Jotting down a few notes about what worked (or didn’t!) and bringing them in can make our conversations even more helpful.
It also helps to book your sessions for a time when you can fully focus. Where possible, try to minimise distractions from work, family, or your phone, so you can get the most out of your time.

Psychologists are mental health professionals who work in many different areas — including clinical, health, neuropsychology, sport, forensic, organisational, and community settings.
Psychologists support people with a wide range of concerns — from everyday challenges like stress or relationship issues to more complex mental health conditions. We use evidence-based therapies to help people develop coping skills, make positive changes, and prevent ongoing difficulties. We also conduct assessments to better understand a person’s strengths, challenges, and needs, which can guide treatment planning or assist in gaining additional supports.
Psychiatrists, on the other hand, are medical doctors who have completed a medical degree as well as specialist training in diagnosing and treating mental illness. They can prescribe medication, and some also provide therapy alongside medical treatment.

No referral is needed — you’re welcome to book an appointment with me directly, just contact me via the ‘Contact’ page above.
If you choose to do this, you’ll just need to cover the full session cost yourself, as Medicare rebates only apply when you have a referral (such as a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP).
